Ginger Bug!

I often find myself reading online and will end up on the website The Wellness Mama – where I found this recipe for Natural Ginger Ale.  I don’t know much about fermenting so I was curious to find our what a Ginger Bug is…

You first make the Ginger Bug over the course of a week and use the culture to make your natural soda. Ginger is one of my favorites and I had never heard of this – so I mixed up batch and am curious to see how my first experiment in fermenting goes. Basically there are 3 Tablespoons of chopped ginger, 3 Tablespoons of sugar and 2 cups of filtered water with a coffee filter to cover the jar. For the next 5 days – stir the mixture and add another Tablespoon each of ginger and sugar.

On my weekend conference I also got  this book and look forward to many new ways of storing foods and experimenting with healthy and delicious fermented foods.
