Stepping Stones

DSCN4129

Every once in awhile, the routine of life gets abruptly stopped and we are, for a brief moment, jolted awake to take inventory of ourselves and our lives.  Over the past 13 years I have had several different jobs at my company and when the current position changed to include more sales than customer service, and  it became a burden to me, I let it get me down and depressed. I felt trapped and  I was existing in a very small space. I couldn’t see that it wasn’t a wall, but a stepping stone, before me to the next thing I would do.

We are always in motion and somehow stay in the denial that everything is always the same.

I get it now.  I really do. There is freedom in understanding the movement and opportunity of change.

In a couple of weeks I leave the job that has changed over the years into something I was not loving, and move just a few desks away to begin a job I know I will love and be good at. I know because I have been paying attention to the pieces of my current job that make me happy and started looking for a job that included only those things. It turned out,  happily, that someone retired in my company and I was offered and accepted the position last Friday.

As I was job searching, I kept seeing the Monster.com slogan “Find Better” and now I have.  And I am confident that in this constantly changing world, there are more adventures out there for me, and I am a step closer to the next one.
