Sunday Afternoon

It’s a little cool here in Massachusetts, but spring has definitely, and finally made her arrival. In a quick walk around our little garden, I can see so many perenniels starting to get their leaves.  Small fuzzy buds have appeared on the apple and pear trees; the fruit bushes and hazelnuts have small leaves already and there are so many other  plants beginning to come to life again.

We planted early peas and french radishes in this bed – with a very special cat proofing system 🙂

I planted from seed for an indoor greenhouse on the front porch:
Garlic Chive (2), Oregano, Lemon Balm, Parsley, Thyme

In the herb spiral Lemon Thyme and Sage are already growing. I added Coriander, Basil, Dill, Chive, and found one very large Toad sleeping under the soil   =)

There are so many others:  strawberries, blueberries, Hardy Kiwi, Sea Kale, Sorrell, a few baby Ramps (definitely need more of these), horseradish, and even some carrots are growing that we didn’t harvest last year because they were too small.  I really love this time of year when everything transitions from brown and gray to greens and bright colors, and look forward to studying every weed in the garden to find their usefulness. So much fun!
